Van is the Training & Education Supervisor with the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation; Office of OSHA Voluntary Programs where he supervises the training and education staff and provides safety and health training to businesses and industries throughout South Carolina on Various OSHA standards as they apply to their companies.

Rose Foster, CUSP
Rose is a Safety Specialist at Santee Cooper, but she began her career as Santee Cooper’s first female lineman, where she worked for 13 years, and then served as a trainer before moving to Safety.

Powerline Hazard Awareness Demonstration (PHAD)
PHAD is a training tool to educate the public about the hazards associated with overhead and underground powerlines. The tool utilizes life-size utility poles and 7,200 volts of live electricity to demonstrate what can happen when animals, trees, tools and people come into contact with live powerlines.

Run, Hide, Fight addresses how to plan for, and respond to, an active shooter situation in the
workplace from the perspective of experienced state law enforcement professionals.

Description:

Directions to the Santee Cooper Somerset Recreation Center from I-26 & 17-A (Exit 199 A) in Summerville.

  1. Take Hwy 17-A North toward Moncks Corner
  2. In about 10 miles, turn LEFT onto Old Whitesville Road
  3. Stay straight until you run into Somerset/Wampee at the end of Pinopolis
    1. Whitesville will become Sugar Hill Drive when you cross Hwy 6 as you enter Pinopolis.
    2. You will come to a stop sign about a mile after you enter Pinopolis.
    3. Bear Left onto Pinopolis Road, and drive until you reach the end.
    4. The Security officer will direct you to ward the rec building, but it is straight at the end of facility.
